MIPA & MISD Co-Hosting Kindergarten Information Night October 22

Mercer Island, WA, September 29, 2025 – Mercer Island School District in partnership with the Mercer Island Preschool Association (MIPA) will be hosting a Kindergarten Information Night on Wednesday, October 22, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in the library at Island Park Elementary for Mercer Island preschool families.

Superintendent Fred Rundle, Assistant Superintendent-Teaching and Learning Nova Williams, Island Park Principal Joby McGowan, and an Island Park Kindergarten teacher will provide families information on the daily and weekly kindergarten schedules, kindergarten curriculum, kindergarten instruction schedules and the district enrollment process.

This group will also be answering questions Mercer Island families have about kindergarten in the Mercer Island School District.

We will be recording the information night and posting it on our YouTube channel the next day.

Mercer Island preschool parents can bring their children with them to the information night. One of our community preschool partners will be providing childcare during the information night. Stephanie "Ms. Steph" Boyer, the Director of Pebble Preschool & EPIC Days at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church, and members of her preschool staff will be providing student supervision in the Island Park library during the information night. Parents interested in taking advantage of this supervision will be able to enter the school and drop their student off in the school's library. There will be a sign-in and sign-out sheet for parents who utilize the student supervision.

All four elementary schools will be holding guided Fall Open House Tours on Wednesday, November 5, at either 10:00am-10:20am OR 10:30am-10:50am. Guided Spring Open House Tours will be on Wednesday, April 8 at 10:00am-10:20am OR 10:30am-10:50am at all four elementary schools.

The purpose of the tours is to give prospective families, either on Mercer Island or off, a chance to visit the school on a typical school day and learn more about the school. Community members interested in visiting one of the schools will need to wait outside the main school entrance to be let into the school by a school staff member. The tours will be guided by the school principal and members of the school’s PTA.

All four elementary schools will hold their Kindergarten Information Night on Tuesday, January 27 from 6pm-7pm. 

For the 2026-27 school year, Kindergarten Enrollment will open on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
